A year ago today I lined up at Bryan Park in Richmond for the Working Man’s classic and rode in my first road race. The Crit went about how you would expect for a new cyclist. I thought I was sitting in and felt comfortable for the race but as the last lap unfolded I decided I’d do a favor to the field and pull them all back to a minor solo break on the back straight. Promptly following the catch I was swarmed and popped as I went from 2nd wheel to 22nd wheel around the final corner and short straight to the finish. That race might have been my first big learning experience of my cycling career. Many have followed. In order to fill you in I thought I’d provide a brief overview of some of the important lessons I’ve learned in the last year...

Hopefully more blogs to come as I've been a little MIA recently. Lots to cover, collegiate nationals, a broken hand, and a sweet trip to Banner Elk, NC! For now it's back to Bryan Park for a couple circuit races post getting the cast off.
